SUPPLEMENTAL NOTICE OF Adoption

 

TO: All Concerned Persons

 

1.  On October 7, 2022, the Board of Public Education (board) published MAR Notice No. 10-55-290 pertaining to the public hearing on the proposed adoption, amendment, repeal, and transfer of the above-stated rules at page 1966 of the 2022 Montana Administrative Register, Issue Number 19.  On March 24, 2023, the board published the notice of adoption at page 255 of the 2023 Montana Administrative Register, Issue Number 6.

 

2.  The board recently became aware from the Office of Public Instruction and school districts that incoming juniors and seniors may have their plans of study set for the remainder of their high school career, and that the new requirements of 1/2 unit of civics or government and 1/2 unit of economics or financial literacy in ARM 10.55.905 could conflict with other coursework.  In order to ensure timely and efficient planning of student schedules, the board has taken action to delay the effective date of ARM 10.55.905(2)(c) and (2)(h) to July 1, 2025.

 

3. Subsections (2)(c) and (2)(h) of ARM 10.55.905 are amended effective July 1, 2025.  All other rules as adopted, amended, repealed, and transferred remain effective July 1, 2023.

 

4.  The replacement pages for this supplemental notice were submitted to the Secretary of State on April 18, 2023.
