24.147.902    DISCLOSURE STATEMENT ON EMBALMING

(1) A licensed mortician shall include a statement on written contract materials intended for the public as to the conditions under which embalming is required, which statement shall be in accordance with Department of Public Health and Human Services rules on embalming.

(2) The following language shall be included with the requirement of (1) : "Except in special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial."
