(1) Nurse anesthetist practice is the independent and/or collaborative performance of or the assistance in any act involving the determination, preparation, administration, or monitoring of any drug used in the administration of anesthesia or related services for surgical and other therapeutic procedures which require the presence of persons educated in the administration of anesthetics.

(2) A nurse anesthetist is authorized to perform procedures delineated in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Guidelines for Nurse Anesthesia Practice. Copies of the guidelines may be obtained from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, www.aana.com.
