(1) A public safety officer already serving under a permanent appointment prior to the effective date of this regulation shall not be required to meet any of the requirements for certification as a condition of tenure or continued employment, nor shall failure to fulfill such requirements make them ineligible for any promotional examination or consideration for promotion for which they would otherwise be eligible.
