24.159.1006    STANDARDS RELATED TO THE PRACTICAL NURSE'S ROLE IN COSMETIC PROCEDURES

(1) The practical nurse who has the proper training and on-going competency and while under the direct supervision of a physician may perform procedures using the following technologies:

(a) lasers;

(b) intense pulsed light sources;

(c) microwave energy;

(d) radio frequency;

(e) electrical impulse; and

(f) dermatologic technologies that cut or alter living tissue.

(2) The practical nurse who has the proper training and on-going competency and while under the direct supervision of a physician may inject or insert the following:

(a) botulism toxins, commonly referred to as "botox";

(b) natural and synthetic collagens;

(c) silicone;

(d) sclerotherapy agents; or

(e) natural or synthetic filler materials.
