23.14.416    THE BASIC COURSE

(1) The amount of training for which certification will be granted in the basic peace officer's course shall be not less than 480 hours of instruction.

(2) Students in a basic peace officer's course shall be required to complete instruction in the following minimum prescribed subject areas at a training school certified to present the course:

(a) Administrative, assessment, graduation - 30 hours

(b) Law - 72 hours

(c) Police function and human behavior - 35 hours

(d) Patrol - 70 hours

(e) Investigations - 80 hours

(f) Traffic - 45 hours

(g) Police proficiencies - 100 hours

(h) First responder - 48 hours

(3) The POST advisory council shall annually review the curriculum for the basic peace officer's course by examining and approving performance objectives which have been established for each designated training block within these minimum prescribed subject areas.

(4) The council may approve changes from the course content established at the last annual review upon written application from a director of a training school certified to present the course providing evidence that such change is compatible with the public interest.
