(1) An applicant for an elevator mechanic's license shall furnish evidence satisfactory to the department that the applicant has:

(a) passed a written examination or certification approved by the department; or

(b) performed three years verifiable conveyance work.

(2) An applicant for a limited mechanic's license shall furnish evidence satisfactory to the department that the applicant has:

(a) passed a written examination or certification approved by the department; or

(b) one year of verifiable work experience in performing residential conveyance work.
