(1) A fourth-grade student at the proficient level in mathematics demonstrates solid academic performance. He/she gives responses that exhibit clear understanding of the problem or situation presented and is able to make connections within the mathematical and/or real world. The student can determine a process and sufficiently communicate correct problem solving strategies through relevant representations. Although there may be occasional errors, these do not interfere with appropriate strategies. Solutions are reasonable and well supported.
