37.115.519    DECK DRAINS

(1) The entire deck area shall have a slope of not less than one quarter inch per foot and not more than one half inch per foot directed away from the swimming pool, spa, or other water feature edge. Decks shall be sloped to effectively drain either to perimeter areas or to deck drains. The drainage shall be designed to remove splash water, deck cleaning water, and rain water to the waste water disposal system without leaving standing water.

(2) Deck drains shall be provided on all indoor pools and spas and shall be located so that no deck drain services more than 400 square feet of the deck.

(3) Outdoor pools shall utilize either deck or perimeter drain systems.

(4) The deck area drains shall not be connected to the recirculating piping system.
